Cookie policy
Last updated 25 April 2026
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies that lifeinuk.study uses, what each one does, and how to change your choices at any time.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device. It lets the site recognise you on a later visit, keep you signed in, remember preferences, or count visitors. Some cookies last until you close your browser ("session" cookies) and others persist for weeks or months ("persistent" cookies). We also use the browser's localStorage for the same purposes — the rules below apply equally to anything stored that way.
2. The cookies we use
Strictly necessary — always on
These keep the site working. Without them you can't sign in or navigate securely. They don't track you across the web.
lifeinuk.tokens— your sign-in tokens after a successful magic-link verification. Cleared when you sign out.lifeinuk.cookie-consent— your choices on this very policy, so we don't show the banner every visit.lifeinuk.theme— light or dark theme preference.- Stripe checkout cookies — set by Stripe on the payment iframe to prevent fraud and complete the transaction. See Stripe's cookie policy.
Analytics — optional (off until you accept)
These help us understand how the site is used in aggregate so we can fix what's broken and prioritise what's useful. We never link analytics data to your name or email.
- A first-party analytics pixel (rolling out shortly) records page views, time on page, and broad device class. The data lives on our own servers — it isn't sent to Google or any third-party analytics provider.
Marketing — optional (off until you accept)
These help us measure how often each ad creative is seen and clicked, and avoid showing you the same ad repeatedly.
lifeinuk.ad-impressions— local-only record of which ad slots have been shown to you, used to vary creative. Never leaves your device.
3. How to change your choices
Use the button below — or the Cookie preferences link at the bottom of every page — to reopen the banner at any time.
4. Browser-level controls
You can also block or delete cookies via your browser's settings. Each browser is different — search for "manage cookies" in your browser's help. Be aware that turning off necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in or staying signed in.
5. Changes to this policy
If we add a cookie or change why we use one, we'll bump the policy version and reopen the banner so you can review it. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision.
